It's time to get outdoors and enjoy lingering in Downtown Madison. The first Madison Night Market of the year opens tonight at 6 p.m. Visit more than one hundred vendors along the streets, take advantage of the specials and sales at downtown businesses, and enjoy live music and entertainment along the way.
"It’s a great opportunity to celebrate all the creativity in Madison," says Tiffany Kenney, Executive Director of Madison's Central Business Improvement District. "The Madison Night Market is designed to promote the ideas of shopping downtown, shopping local and shopping to support artisans."
The night market is in its second year, after attracting more than 5000 attendees to its monthly events in 2017. Visitors enjoyed the artwork, live music, and opportunity to connect with local entrepreneurs. This year includes more than 100 vendors and three distinct locations:
1. Gilman Street (stretching from University to Henry Street), will host 80 vendors and live music.
2. The top of State Street (Capitol End) will be featuring Monroe Street Merchants Association members, an Artist Meet & Greet with “Flamingo Wings” Artist Gabrielle Javier-Cerulli and local buskers.
3. The bottom of State Street (Campus End) featuring more vendors, DJ M. White and FREE Madison Night Market totes for the first 50 attendees!
Be sure to enjoy the live music at Lisa Link Peace Park, and keep your eyes out for angel wings and other art scattered throughout the market. Wander through the vendor areas, connect with local artisans, and enjoy visiting downtown businesses. Then, come back on the second Thursday of each summer month to enjoy the market again. The Madison Night Market is sure to be an event to remember!
