More about Evansville

The Wisconsin Historical Society recognizes Evansville as having “the finest collection of 1840s to 1915 architecture of any small town in Wisconsin.” The town’s historical district is on the national registry, and includes cobblestone roads lined with shops, restaurants, and other businesses. The community values the arts, and hosts regular art shows, musical theater productions and opportunities to connect with local artists. “Windmills on Parade” features artistic windmills displayed downtown, and celebrates Evansville’s manufacturing history.

Outdoor and Recreational Opportunities

For the outdoor enthusiast, there is much to enjoy. Lake Leota offers fishing, ice skating, and some boating. The adjacent Leonard-Leota Park includes baseball, softball, volleyball, basketball, and tennis areas. A public pool is open each summer. Two county parks, Magnolia Bluff and Gibbs Lake, offer more room to explore, with trails for horseback riding, and more options for fishing and hiking. The Evansville Golf Club provides an 18-hole course, and is open to the public.
