If you search for New Glarus online, you'll be directed to New Glarus Brewing, home of many local beers including a local favorite, Spotted Cow. The brewing company sits on the southern end of town and includes a large area open for tours and events. Head north to downtown New Glarus and you'll immediately notice the Swiss-themed architecture, and a selection of restaurants, businesses and a library, all connected within a few blocks. This is a town for festivals. The annual gatherings are numerous and include the Polka Fest, Heidi Fest, Oktoberfest, Willhelm Tell Festival, and many more weekend celebrations.
New Glarus is also a place for outdoor recreation. The 23 mile Sugar River Bike Trail begins here, and the New Glarus Woods State Park is just a mile south of the village. A golf course is also in town, offering scenic countryside along with recreation.
