More about Sunset Village Real Estate

The Sunset Village real estate market offers a nice variety of modestly-sized Cape Cod, bungalow, and ranch-style houses built between 1920 and 1960. Most homes in Sunset Village offer 3 bedrooms and 1,500 to 2,500 finished square feet. This neighborhood is one of only a few in America to feature the Lustron home — a rare World War II-era design constructed primarily of steel. In total, only 2,500 Lustron houses were built nationwide.

Sunset Village Parks and Recreation

Residents enjoy convenient access to four great neighborhood parks, a golf course, and many miles of bike and pedestrian trails. Quarry Park offers 17 acres of rolling, rocky terrain. Hoyt Park is another classic park that is treasured by many Madisonians. It offers over 22 acres of forest, restored prairie, pedestrian trails, athletic fields, and picnic facilities. Sunset Park and Lucia Crest Park are two smaller parks that are tucked away within the neighborhood (Lucia Crest Park also serves as a dog park during the early morning hours). The Glenway Golf Course is conveniently located on Mineral Point Road and Glenway Street. Just down the road on Glenway Street is a connecting point to the Southwest Commuter Path, which many residents use for biking, roller-blading, walking, and running.

Food, Shopping and Entertainment Venues

Sunset Village is a community where dozens of food, shopping, and entertainment options are located right outside your front door. Hilldale Mall — featuring a theatre, a farmers market, grocery store, shops, boutiques, and restaurants — is located right across the street on Midvale Blvd. Nearby University Avenue and Sequoya Commons offer many more dining and shopping opportunities. Sequoya Commons also offers a neighborhood branch of the Madison Public Library System.

Neighborhood Schools

Sunset Village properties are zoned to the Madison West High School attendance area. The Midvale/Lincoln elementary schools serve children through the fifth grade, and Hamilton Middleton School serves children in grades six through eight. Queen of Peace Church, located on Mineral Point Road, offers a private school setting for children up to eighth grade.
