Tips for Downsizing from your Madison area Home

Here are a few tried-and-true tips from our team, after helping dozens of clients downsize into a smaller home. You'll find many more tips and a list of recommended resources in our downloadable guide. 

1) Start small and start early. 

It’s wise to start clearing unwanted items early, and in small increments, to make the job feel more manageable. Maybe this is room by room, or even drawer by drawer. Or, maybe it’s easiest to start with sentimental items.

2) Begin by focusing on what you want to keep. 

Your decisions will come easier to you when you start by focusing on what you want to keep, rather than what you want to get rid of. Once you know the items that you'll keep, then you can shift your focus to finding the right home for the items that you won't keep.
