There's Still Time for a Haywagon Ride!

This Friday, Warner Park (1625 Northport Drive) is the place to be! Don't let the recent cold spell keep you home. The City of Madison is offering haywagon rides through the park. After the ride, warm up with a bonfire and the opportunity to roast marshmallows. Bundle up with your friends or family, and make plans to join the fun. The rides begin at 5:30, with additional trips continuing until 8:30 p.m. The cost to ride is $3/person, but riders under 2 are free.

The rides will tour Warner Park and end at the community center. Then, after a visit to the bonfire, it's time to warm up (indoors) at the Warner Family Fun Night. For just $5, the whole family can participate. The night is a monthly occurrence at Warner Park, and offers the chance to enjoy neighbors, friends, and generous indoor play space. This month's fun night will include fall-themed crafts, a movie and popcorn (Charlotte's Web, 2006), a bounce house, pottery room, game room (complete with pool, ping pong, air hockey, etc.), bingo games and more! The nights are designed to offer residents of all ages an opportunity to get out of the house and socialize. And, as the weather gets colder, families may find it's the perfect chance to get kids to burn off extra energy.

The Warner Family Fun Night is one of the last chances to enjoy a haywagon ride. The parks department offers the rides, and schedules public events at parks throughout the city. This ensures that residents on every side have a chance to enjoy the fun. Past events have toured Elver Park, Cherokee Marsh-North and Warner Park. The only other public event left on the calendar coincides with the Holiday Fantasy in Lights at Olin Park. The popular light display opens November 18. The haywagon will be available on Sunday, November 19 from 6 to 10 p.m. After riders get to take this tour through the beautiful displays along Lake Monona, the haywagon rides will end for another year. In the meantime, Madison residents can also arrange for private parties on the city's website

Whether you visit Warner Park this weekend, or wait for the Holiday Fantasy in Lights, be sure to take advantage of one of the last haywagon rides of the season. Fall is almost gone!
