Getting Started with your Home Sale

When it comes to selling your home, there's no substitute for planning and preparation. Our initial consultation is all about putting a good plan in place for your sale. During our planning meeting we learn why and when you plan to move. Then we outline the key steps for making your move happen.

For example, let's say your goal is to sell your current home and move into your new condo by August 15th. Your move plan could look a lot like this example below. 

Example Move Plan: Sell and Buy by August 15th

  • Meet with our stager on June 1st
  • Stage your home's featured space (for example a great room, sun room or kitchen) with our stager's assistance by June 4th 
  • Mad City Dream Homes obtains professional photos of your featured space by June 5th
  • Mad City Dream Homes obtains professional floor plan by June 5th 
  • Mad City Dream Homes begins "coming soon marketing" by June 6th 
  • Complete staging of entire house by June 18th
  • Complete miscellaneous repairs and painting projects by June 18th  
  • Clean house and carpets by June 19th
  • Mad City Dream Homes obtains professional photos and video of entire home by June 20th 
  • Mad City Dream Homes makes listing active on the MLS and rolls out entire marketing plan on June 21st 
  • Mad City Dream Homes hosts open house on June 25th 
  • Review offers and begin negotiations on June 28th 
  • Close on your sale the morning of August 15th 
  • Move into your new condo later in the day on August 15th

Our goal for your initial consultation is to lay out a timeline for all of the key steps involved with your sale. 

Other Important Aspects of your Home Selling Plan

During our initial meeting we customize your marketing plan based on the type of home or condo you own. We also connect you with quality contractors who help you capably carry out your plan. For example, we have a list of reliable painters, handymen, cleaners, and movers who all do great work at a fair price. Last, we perform a market analysis for you - so you know how much you can expect to net from your sale. Depending on how our meeting goes, we either complete your market analysis at your house, or within the next day or two as a follow up to our meeting.
