It’s no secret that many real estate agents are on call days, nights, weekends -- sometimes even while on vacation -- especially when the market is hot.
That’s why it’s so important for agents to find a self-care routine and get in a groove that works best for them so they can best serve their clients and themselves, too.
For Chris Venden, early mornings are for quiet, calm, and quality time with her spouse and dog. Even if she’s up late writing offers, Chris is an early riser and time blocks a couple of hours to prepare her schedule and set the tone for a positive, productive day.
As soon as Chris is awake she’ll do a quick check of her emails and texts, and if nothing is urgent she’ll ease into her morning routine at her countryside home.
“We’re up between 5:30-6 a.m. and watch the sunrise come up in the morning. Steve and I chit chat, look for deer in the fields, and have coffee. I take Jed (her bloodhound rescue dog) out for a walk, to play, and soak in the sunshine and fresh air,” she said. “Then I shower, make the bed, head out the door, and hit the books.”
If she has a few extra minutes before leaving her house or between showings and writing offers, Chris will pop onto social media to check in with her friends, family, and clients -- especially on their birthdays. She is a phenomenal cheerleader, listener, and supporter.
Every morning, Chris also checks the delayed status and for-sale-by-owner properties to see if any are good matches for her clients since new listings tend to get offers as soon as they hit the market. There’s also preparing paperwork, checking contingencies, staying in touch with her prospective clients, scheduling showings, writing offers, and everything else that goes into being a realtor.
“Nights and weekends can be busy, too, so I have a little more control in the morning,” Chris said. “My routine helps me stay grounded.”
These are just a few of the habits that Chris bakes into her daily routine. Professionalism, generosity, and dedication are at her core, and we are so grateful to have Chris as part of our team and serving our clients and community.
