The first week of October is packed with flavor and generosity in the greater Madison area.
Several local restaurants are donating a portion of their proceeds to causes that directly impact the community, and you can help just by filling up on some tasty food. So consider going out to eat with your family and friends during these three upcoming fundraisers.
What: About 20 food carts from Let's Eat Out! will serve their menu items for $4. There will also be drinks for sale, yoga, and live music. When: 11 a.m. to 7 p.m. Sunday, October 1, 2017 Where: Breese Stevens Field, 917 E. Mifflin St., Madison Tickets: $5 in advance, $10 at the door, $25 VIP Fundraiser: A portion of all proceeds will go toward Carts for Community, which "uses local food as a vehicle for community building, place making, and economic development."
What: A day-long, city-wide local food celebration that encourages people to eat at local restaurants. When: Wednesday, October 4, 2017 Where: About 15 restaurants in the Madison area (see website for list) Fundraiser: These restaurants will donate 10 percent of that day's sales to the REAP Farm to School Program in the Madison Metropolitan District, which "provides fresh, local snacks, garden bars, nutrition education and hands-on culinary training for students."
What: A day-long, county-wide campaign during Domestic Violence Awareness Month to support victims of domestic violence in Dane County. When: Thursday, October 5, 2017 Where: Over 70 restaurants in Dane County (see website for list) Fundraiser: These restaurants will donate 10 percent of that day's sales to Domestic Abuse Intervention Services, whose mission is to "empower those affected by domestic violence and advocate for social change through support, education, and outreach."
