Relocating across the country isn’t easy, but Jenn and her husband were committed to finding a place in Madison for their retirement. Jenn and her husband were planning to move out of California for their retirement. They decided they wanted to move somewhere in the midwest, and embarked on a year-long search. Then, Madison became their top destination.
“My daughter was accepted into a summer program at UW-Madison, and we fell in love with the area when we came to visit her,” said Jenn.
Jenn searched Google for “Madison Realtors” and really liked the Mad City Dream Homes name and website. She sent a general email request and heard back from Shelley Lazzareschi shortly thereafter. “We clicked, and I loved working with her,” said Jenn.
Their wish list for their new home was very clear. They wanted at least three bedrooms and two bathrooms, plus a basement and a two-car garage. Jenn really wanted a water view, but that wasn’t super important.
Since they were living in California, they did every part of the home buying process completely virtually. They made their decision solely from photos and FaceTime walkthroughs with Shelley and Tammy. Both REALTORs were very responsive to Jenn’s questions and needs. Jenn said, “One home we virtually toured in Middleton didn’t have central air. That was a deal breaker for me, so we decided to move on. Shelley was very patient throughout the whole process, just wanting us to find our perfect place."
About two months after starting to look at homes, they made an offer that was accepted. They ended up with everything on their wish list, plus an extra bedroom! Shelley helped connect them with a local lender, Karen Wedvick at Johnson Bank. Everything was done virtually. “We had a physical signing in California, and shipped those documents back to Karen,” said Jenn. “Everything went very smoothly,” she added.
Seeing homes virtually was very informative for the buyers. “It worked perfectly! In fact, the house was bigger than I thought when I was finally able to move in,” said Jenn.
The couple moved into their new home in mid-March, and are loving the space. “The whole process went so smoothly, and I HIGHLY recommend Shelley and the Mad City team. Shelley’s expertise was invaluable, and we wouldn't have been able to buy our home without her,” said Jenn.
