More about the Cross Plains Community

Cross Plains real estate is representative of the village’s growth over the years; with traditional, character-filled homes near the center of town, and more modern houses along the village perimeter. This lovely community has something to offer everyone!

The village of Cross Plains – population 3,500 - was established in the mid 1800s. A stroll down Main Street provides a glimpse of the past with the old-style brick buildings that line the street. Homeowners here enjoy 25 acres of community parks and 81 acres of natural conservancy space, unique for a community of this size. The parks offer a wider variety of recreational options, including: a community pool, baseball diamonds, a skateboard park, tennis courts, volleyball courts, an ice skating rink, as well as numerous picnic and playground areas. The nearby Ice Age Trail also provides many wonderful hiking opportunities along terrain formed by the glaciers that receded from this area 12 to 15 thousand years ago.

The village of Cross Plains comes to life each summer with its annual three day festival. The “World’s Fair” brings the entire community together and draws a large audience from surrounding communities as well. The festival includes a carnival and midway, country and rock bands, softball and baseball tournaments, a water fight with the village fire department, and a grand finale fireworks display on the last night of the fair.

The annual “Lions Trout Days” is held each year on the first day of the trout fishing season. The event is a testament to the influence of Black Earth Creek on life here in the village of Cross Plains. Black Earth Creek is a spring-fed stream with a constant source of clear, cold water. Trout are abundant in the creek, attracting fly-fishing enthusiasts from around Wisconsin and the upper Midwest.
