Staging: More than Just Cleaning House

How do you sell a listing? It starts with an online showing, where potential buyers look at the photos you've posted, and determine if it's worth their time to come in person. Debbie Lea of Showcase Home Stagers knows this well. She works with each of our clients to transform their space, and make their homes truly photo-ready. It's not as simple as just making the rooms look nice. Debbie looks at the potential angles for photographs, and prepares each room to shine.

"People are shopping for an experience. They want to imagine themselves hosting friends, throwing a party, or relaxing in the quiet spaces of their new home. You can arrange the items in your home to help tell that story," she says.  When staging a room, Debbie looks for opportunities to show conversation space, areas to relax and more. And, she seeks simple ways to update things in an affordable way.

Take a look at kitchen hardware, for example. Do the cabinets include a metal tone that is outdated? Switch it out to a color or tone that is more on trend. It may not seem obvious to you at first, but once you make that change, you'll be amazed at how it updates and adds value to your home, without breaking the bank.

Another trick? Add color to blank spaces. The exterior can perk up with a simple planter that has seasonal greens, flowers or decor. A large, inexpensive art piece can add value and interest to an indoor space, and increase the perceived value. Debbie knows the best places to find these details at reasonable prices. She also offers helpful input for selecting the right style, color or piece.

Debbie is a master at taking current possessions and re-purposing them to make a home more appealing. She can use hard cover books, wine glasses, throws and more to give your home a cozy appeal. This appeal brings buyers in for a showing, and leads to a sale. We believe she offers tremendous value to sellers. With this in mind, we have her work with ALL of our listings. Our sellers appreciate this service (we cover the cost), and we've seen that it is a proven way to sell a home.
