Celebrate our amazing parks and trails June 2

Dane County's beautiful parks and trails bring communities together by promoting healthy lifestyles through recreational and educational opportunities. To celebrate these resources and the many volunteers who support them, please join us at the Parks & Trails Unite Festival on Saturday, June 2.

This free community event will take place from 10 a.m. to 7 p.m. at both Lake Farm County Park on Madison's southeast side and McDaniel Park in McFarland. You can park on-site, take a free shuttle from the Alliant Energy Center, or ride your bike.

Bicycle racks will be available on the festival grounds, and Culver's frozen custard tokens will be available to those who bike to the event on a first-come, first-served basis. You won't need a trail pass since that's also National Trails Day. The event features the new boardwalk bridge on the Lower Yahara River Trail, which connects the two parks and will eventually lead to Stoughton.

The festival will include live music, food carts, motivational speakers, educational and cultural displays, live demonstrations, local TV and media personalities, activity stations for adults and kids, pontoon rides, and other activities too numerous to list. A roped-off biergarten will be open from noon to 7 p.m. and feature beverages from Wisconsin Brewing Company and One Barrel Brewing.

The event is hosted by Dane County Parks, the Friends of Dane County Parks, Inc., and United Madison. Each activity will have a donation jar if you'd like to help support the festival and Dane County Parks volunteers and 16 friends groups.

Mad City Dream Homes is proud to sponsor one of the many fun activities at the June 2 festival: a science exploration station with demonstrations and hands-on experiments. Look for our banner and table next to the Science is Fun truck, where we'll be offering $10 food vouchers to the first 200 clients who mention this article.

The whole family, including dogs, are welcome. Rain or shine, we hope to see you there!
