As temperatures start to dip and stores bring out their holiday displays, it's only a matter of time before winter is here. This weekend you'll find activities in Madison that blend the seasons, from an indoor art fair and farmers market to an outdoor marathon.

Farmers Market

Get ready for a Saturday shake-up when it comes to the farmers market. November 11 is the last Dane County Farmers' Market of the season held Saturday on the Square before it moves indoors for the winter. So be sure to head downtown between 6:15 a.m. to 1:45 p.m. to savor a fall walk in search for fresh produce. Then the Holiday Market, featuring about 60 vendors, will move indoors to Monona Terrace from 7:30 a.m. to noon on November 18, December 2, 9, and 16. After that the Late Winter Market will be held Saturdays at the Madison Senior Center from January 6 through April 7.

Winter Art Fair Off the Square

If you're looking for the perfect locally made gift for friends, family, or yourself, head to the Monona Terrace Convention and Community Center from 9 a.m. to 5 p.m. Saturday, November 11 and 10 a.m. to 4 p.m. Sunday, November 12. There you'll find the Winter Art Fair Off the Square, now in its 28th year, featuring over 135 Wisconsin exhibitors. As a companion to the outdoor summer Art Fair Off the Square, this show features pottery, paintings, fiber, glass art, wood, photography, jewelry, graphics, sculptures, and even a silent auction. The cost to attend is $5 per person and free for kids under 12.

Madison Marathon

Before you head to Monona Terrace for the art fair on Sunday, November 12, be sure to bundle up and head downtown to watch the Madison Marathon, which starts at 7 a.m. at Mifflin Street and Wisconsin Avenue. This is also a Boston Marathon qualifying course, and this year the overall top three male and female winners for the marathon and half marathon will receive prize money, so be sure to cheer them on!
