The Madison area is beautiful in the fall. Leaves turn brilliant colors, pumpkins, apples and mums all hit their peak season, and area farms invite you to come and enjoy the harvest. This weekend, several of them are opening their fall festivities. We recommend you travel around town, and experience as many of these farms as you can!

Eugster's Farm Market: If you're interested in a full-blown farm experience, Eugster's the the place to be! The farm is south of Madison and east of Oregon on Highway 138. They feature a wide range of farm animals available for viewing, feeding and petting. They also offer a pumpkin patch and a corn maze, and additional special events throughout October. For those that want to just enjoy the harvest (and not hunt for it), Eugster's offers a produce market with pre-picked items. Their fall festival hours begin on Saturday, September 30. Admission is $10 per person, with final tickets sold at 3:30 p.m. on weekends. They also offer weekday options.

Enchanted Valley Acres: Go west of Madison, and you'll find this farm at 5047 Enchanted Valley Road in Cross Plains.  This farm features a giant slippery slide, multiple corn mazes, a pumpkin patch, hay rides and more. Weekend hours are 9-6 p.m. and admission is $10/person.

Fitchburg Farms: If you're more interested in fall décor, this is the stop for you! Fitchburg Farms is full of hardy mums, corn stalks and other beautiful fall plants. The farm is located on County Road MM along the east end of Fitchburg (and north of Oregon). They have workshops for creating fall planters and terrariums, and also have a large corn maze.  Check their website or facebook page for ticket information.

Eplegaarden: Apple picking is the key event at Eplegaarden. Located at 2227 Fitchburg Road in Fitchburg, this orchard offers rows upon rows of apples. The rows are all clearly labeled by type, and you can purchase a bag to fill with as many apples as will fit. The orchard also offers a haunted house, market, hayride and different events each weekend. Tickets for each can be purchased on site.

Schuster's Farm: On the far east edge of town, you'll find this popular fall location. Schuster's Farm is located north of the Beltline, and east of the Interstate on Highway 12/18.  The farm offers a pumpkin patch, corn maze, wagon rides, a jumping pillow, pumpkin canons and more. This year's corn maze has a Badgers theme! It's open weekdays and weekends, and ticket prices vary depending the activities you select.

No matter which farm you visit, you're sure to enjoy the crisp fall air, fresh produce and outdoor fun with the whole family!
